This year the annual formal light switch-on event will be taking place on the evening of Friday 1st December.
Long Street will be closed to traffic from 5:30pm until 7pmto allow for the parade and Church Street will be closed to traffic from 4pm to9pm, this is to allow stallholders to set-up and for us all to enjoy the festivities. So, for those of you planning your journeys home please take this into account.
There will also be a temporary “No Parking Restriction Order” from 3:30pm in The Green, between Market Place Mews and St. Michael’s Church. This will allow traffic to pass through easily, without fear of obstruction or damage being caused to other parked vehicles.
The night will kick off with a lantern- lit procession starting at 6:45pm from the bottom of Long Street and going up to the Market House led by Santa with his Elves and of course the children with their paper lanterns.
Those wishing to take part in the lantern-lit procession should assemble at the Town Council Offices from 6:20pm onwards with the procession starting at 6:45pm, Santa will be on hand to greet you, everyone’s welcome and all children need to be accompanied by an adult. The Christmas Team will be on hand to distribute the paper lanterns.
The lights will be turned on officially after the procession at approximately 7pm. This year we are extremely happy to welcome Jilly Cooper, Tetbury Mayor, Councilor Liz Farnham, and the winners of St Mary's school bauble competition. We also like to thank the Feoffees and The Thirteen who work tirelessly to light the Market House and Lowsley-Williams Family for the Beautiful Christmas Trees. The charity, trading, and refreshment stalls will then be officially open; Santa will be available in his Grotto in the Post Office from 7:15pm
Free Parking after 4pm in the Chipping Street car park and as always the Old Railway car park remains Free.
Tetbury is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and the second largest town in the Cotswolds. It is the home of HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, and the Duchess of Cornwall and, was an important market for Cotswold wool and yarn during the Middle Ages. Tetbury has a lot to offer visitors, with good food, fashionable shopping, the annual Woolsack Races and the crazy soapbox derby Tetbury Wacky Races.
Tetbury Lions Club organised the first Wacky Races in 2012 as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Jubilee Celebrations and has since been an annual event. Despite the 2020 cancellation, due to the Covid pandemic, The team have been working to make sure Tetbury Wacky Races 2022 will be the biggest and most exciting yet. Tetbury Lions are proud to present a FREE event for all the family, and thank everyone who give their time and talent to make it a success.
The Wacky Races committee decided that the fourth running of the event should be committed to celluloid (well sort of). So local videographer and composer Steve Hilliker was commissioned to film the event in 4K. Steve filmed, edited and composed the music track for this film which has had 1000 views on Youtube

Tetfest is an event for the whole family, regardless of age.
Tetfest provides a free children‘s entertainment area which usually includes a bouncy castles, climbing wall and other rides so that all age groups are accommodated. Because the entire festival site is fenced off with security on the gate, you can relax and enjoy the music knowing your children are safe.

The countdown is on to our third Off the Rails festival of music, entertainment and family fun!
Whatever else you’ve got planned for Sunday 3 September, give yourself a generous dollop of time to come on down to our third “Off the Rails” family festival.
There’ll be live music on the outdoor platform from the likes of Coracle, Jack Calloway and the Midnight Creepers, Reggae Band Da Fuchaman and the Kim Cypher Quartet. Around and about the outside of the Shed there’ll be all kinds of impromptu entertainment for grownups and children alike, including magic and fire eaters as well as a Samba Band and naturally a Beer Tent. There’ll be craft stalls inside the Shed itself, and of course the Whistle Stop café will be doing take-away meals, hot and cold drinks and scrumptious pastries all day, together with other food stalls including Pizza, Burgers, Thai Food and ice cream.
An All day pass for Off the Rails costs just £5.00 per adult and its FREE for Under 18 years. So come on down to enjoy the fun!
